SPLENDOR

by DRAGONE

Drop The Spoon was commisionned to create the virtual settings of Splendor, Dragone‘s show in Wuxi, China, directed by Amy Thinkam.
A full projected floor, a Huge 360 degrees LED screen circling the audience and a large LED backdrop were completing our playground.

The video setup created a completely immersive environment that carried the audience in a time travel from a TV show to the antique story of Xi Shi, one of the most beautiful lady of China, in her struggle to get revenge on King Fuchai of Wu.

We set up a temporary studio in the theatre during 3 month for the creation time, with a team of up to 10 artists on site.

AN IMMERSIVE 360° VENUE

a 270° LED RIBBON, a moving GIANT LED WALL as background and a FULL PROJECTION FLOOR.

Our challenge : find the good balance between extreme power of brightness from LED’s and the subtlety of projection.

THE BATTLE SEQUENCE

In order to strengthen the finale battle and bring it outside the central scene, several video shooting sessions were necessary. Either on a green screen in a local cinema studio in China, or on black curtains in the rehearsal room. We even shot some of them in improvised setting in order to create the first mockups of the scene.
